Hurricane....in Boston???

This was originally supposed to be about how social we're becoming. Then, after news of Irene struck fear in the hearts of everyone on the East Coast and our plans were canceled, it was going to be about how we survived the hurricane. While we're thrilled that Irene didn't cause much pain in Medford, our anger at the storm for ruining our fun weekend made us take the fight to the storm.

Just after it started to pour on Saturday afternoon, Grumpus decided that it was time for a run. We struck out through the puddles and were reminded of the unadulterated fun we used to feel as little kids splashing in puddles (Mumpus) or playing football (Grumpus). Soaked, we headed home to wait out the storm.

By Sunday afternoon the worst was behind us, so we went out to survey the damage. Ever cautious, we started by going out on the porch, then moved to our street and finally headed into the woods. The Fells saw a lot of damage, although pictures don't really do it justice, and the mosquitos were hungry, so we quickly exited the woods and walked around our neighborhood. A few trees fell down, but nothing too bad.

  2. Oh, good thing that tree didn't directly hit the house! If you live in a hurricane-prone area, it's better if you have a safe room inside your house where you can refuge while waiting for the harsh weather to pass. It's not also advisable to plant a tree near your house, as it will most likely to fall over your house during a bad weather. Edwina @ FamilySafeMO.com
